Why Unpair a Follower?
You’re Rearranging or Simplifying Your Setup
If you’ve moved a lamp or appliance to another room that uses a different Leader, your Follower will still be linked to the old one. Unpairing clears that connection so you can link it to the new Leader instead.
You’re Fixing a Follower That Stopped Responding
If a Follower isn’t responding or syncing correctly, unpairing and re-pairing can often fix the issue. It resets the Follower’s memory so it can form a clean connection with the Leader again.
What Happens When You Unpair a Follower
When you unpair a Follower, it forgets its Leader and returns to its default state. The indicator light turns off, and the outlet stops responding to switch commands. You can then re-pair it with any Leader.
How to Unpair a Follower.
-
Locate your Follower. It’s any Outlet Pal device plugged into a regular (unswitched) outlet that responds to your Leader’s switch.
-
Hold the button until the light turns off. Press and hold the button for about three seconds. The LED will turn off, confirming that it has been unpaired.
-
Release the button. Once the light goes out, release the button. Your Follower is now unpaired and ready to be connected to a new Leader.
-
Re-pair if needed. To connect it again, double-click the Follower to enter pairing mode (blinking light), then double-click your Leader to link them. The light on the Follower will pulse once paired.
That’s it — your Follower is now ready for a fresh connection.
Troubleshooting Tip
If the Follower’s light does not turn off when holding the button, make sure it has power. Try unplugging and reconnecting it to a different outlet before trying again.
